PES (Polyethersulfone) Applications

PES (polyethersulfone) is an amorphous, high-temperature thermoplastic that stays rigid to about 180°C, is inherently flame retardant and resists hot-water/steam cycling. Teresi supplies PES stock and machined parts.

Why PES

For parts that see repeated steam/cleaning, need transparency or flame safety without additives, and must stay dimensionally stable hot, PES is a strong choice versus PC or ABS.

Property profile

Heat

~180°C continuous, 200°C short

Hydrolytic

Stable in hot water/steam cycles

Flame

Inherent FR, low smoke

Transparency

Natural amber-translucent option

Applications

FieldPES parts
Food / medicalTrays, connectors, sterilizable parts
ElectronicsSockets, carriers, insulators
Lab / processMembrane modules, fittings
TransportLighting, interior FR parts

Frequently asked questions

What temperature is PES good for?

About 180°C continuous, 200°C short term.

PES vs PSU — what differs?

PES runs hotter and is more steam/hydrolysis stable; PSU is tougher and cheaper for lower-temperature duty.

Is PES sterilizable?

Yes, it tolerates repeated steam/autoclave cycles better than many transparent plastics.
